Root pass would be welded on STT, while the rest of runs would be completed on FCAW. The process included an initial stage of instruction for all welders involved, and the evaluation of different consumables in order to assess which of them would fit best. Once that stage had concluded, we developed due welding parameters for the Vermaat-Lincoln equipment, then proceeded to production.
During our time in Russia last year, we took part in a highly innovative project, which consisted in the production of pipe reinforcements out of plates, by welding them in two stages with the Vermaat-Lincoln system, combining STT welding and Precision Pulse for its completion. First, two plates would be welded together in 1G position, then bent to a pipe shape. Finally, both ends of the plate would be welded again in order to obtain a complete piece, that would eventually serve as an external reinforcement for pipe segments.
